‘Selling Jorginho’: Chelsea to bҽat Man Utd and Liverpool to ‘Fabregas 2.0’ signing
Argentina World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez has risen to prominence after a brilliant tournament in Qatar and could move as early as January
Chelsea is stepping up its efforts to sign Enzo Fernandez in January as Benfica is reportedly looking for a replacement for him, according to Portuguese media reports that representatives met to negotiate a trade.
The 21-year-old midfielder made a name for himself while playing for the eventual World Cup champions Argentina in Qatar, and now Chelsea is vying to sign him before their rivals.
The midfielder may leave his present club less than a year after joining them since Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in him. After scoring in Argentina’s second game against Mexico, Fernandez was signed by Benfica over the summer for just £10 million, but he has already established himself as a star, starting every match.
