Martinez for Martial would be signing of the summer if United pull it off
According to The Times, Manchester United have offered Anthony Martial to Inter Milan as part of a swap offer for Lautaro Martinez.
The ambitious offer comes amid competing interest from Arsenal, who could have an advantage with Champions League football.
Inter are said to be considering cashing in on Martinez for approximately £60-70 million, potentially financing buying back Romelu Lukaku, who is underperforming and unhappy at Chelsea.
This would be a tremendous deal if United can pull it off, and, potentially, the signing of the summer. Here is a look at three reasons why a deal could be significant…
Lautaro Martinez is a top talent who has proven to be one of Serie A’s most consistent strikers. This season he has 22 goals in all competitions, including 17 in the league.
This follows 19 goals he scored last season, and 21 the year before that. Still only 24-years-old, Martinez’s best years may be ahead of him, and United would provide a new challenge.
Martinez would fit the bill for United to sign a younger striker, replacing the ageing Edinson Cavani, who will depart on a free.
In the Champions League, Martinez has scored goals against Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Dortmund, and he could become a real hit at Old Trafford.
