Chelsea Identify Romelu Lukaku Replacement With Roman Abramovich Ready To Cut Losses

Chelsea are prepared to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona for Erling Haaland's signature in the summer transfer window... if Romelu Lukaku departs.

After winning the Champions League, the Blues were strongly connected with the Borussia Dortmund front last summer, but the deal appeared financially unfeasible, and the European Champions decided to walk away.

Instead, they focused on re-signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, which they did for a sum of around £97 million. Needless to say, it hasn't turned out the way Thomas Tuchel had hoped.

Lukaku has been linked with a move away from Chelsea following just one season at the club. If that happens, the club's interest in Haaland will be reignited, according to sources.
