The 21-year-old is one of Old Trafford's most promising young players, with James Garner and Amad Diallo. Unlike Amad, though, Chong's chances of making the first team appear to be slim for the time being. As a result, he has spent the last year on loan with Werder Bremen and Club Brugge.

Despite the fact that Chong isn't near to a first-team spot, United fought off competition to sign him to a new contract in March.

The Red Devils' strategy to developing the attacker will change once they return to Manchester, according to The Telegraph.

Instead of returning to Europe, he will make his name in the Championship, with Birmingham reportedly close to signing him.

Chong will be seen by Blues manager Lee Bowyer, according to the publication.
