Frank Lampard, a former Chelsea player and coach, is expected to get the Everton head coach job.

Lampard emerged as a leading possibility for the job on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail, after the Toffees backed out of their plan to employ Vitor Pereira owing to fan anger.

After a last round of talks with all applicants, including Pereira and Duncan Ferguson, the Goodison Park club is set to choose Lampard.

Since leaving Chelsea in January, the former England international has been looking for a way back into management.

Everton will now focus on bringing in player reinforcements before the transfer deadline on Monday in order to help the club avoid relegation.

Lampard will be in charge.
